London market scene – Watercolour process.
I had sketched a reference photo on my journal. It had different perspectives. Unlike the usual one, I didn’t set the horizon line as a straight one.
It turned out fine and I thought I’ll transform this into a watercolour painting. I didn’t do value sketch beforehand as I had an idea fixed in my head on how I should go about with the values on my painting. I started out with highlighting the lights and slowly surrounded it with darker tones and then the finer details.
Here’s the time lapse video.
I have realised that I finally found my ideal palette and I’m quite pleased with how this combination is working out.
Do you have any definite set of colours that you always use? Let me know in the comments. Would love to know about another fellow artist’s opinion!
