Watercolour painting – Going with the flow.
Today was another day for ‘experiments’. I didn’t want to work on anything that involves intense detailing or perspectives rather focus on the techniques that I got to know get recently.
After taping down my paper, I did a very rough sketch of the subject that I had on my mind.
So what was the technique I used?
Minimal colours and using them as a transparent medium.
Though I had used an opaque and a semi transparent colour, I ensured that I used it in the most diluted form. There was less or no mid tone in my work.
Allowing the first layer to dry before I could add another layer.
As I was building up the work, I only concentrated on glazing and tilting my Watercolor sheet as and when I dropped in my watercolours. Never really used my brush. Just spritzing in some water, dabbing liquid gold(Indigo after Olive green) and tilting until it’s all good!
Finishing it off with dark tones.
Final touch was with the trees and branches. I used the darkest tone of Indigo.
Viola! Our work is done!
How do you think the final painting looks? Do you use this technique too? Let me know!
